Sketchbook Funtimes

Sketching and using a sketchbook is critical to any artist’s development. I use my sketchbook to practice my drawing, lining and colouring skills. Here is a page exploring my sketchbooks and the fun I have with them.

This page is a work in progress. Come back soon to see this page up and running.

Coloured Pencils:

Coloured pencils are, and will always be my go to for sketching. They are such a beautiful medium to work with and my current sketching pencil of choice is the Arrtx pencil with the white Caran D’ache Luminance pencil. I do tend to use markers as a base layer as it makes the pencils even more vibrant.

I use this sketchbook to sketch scenes that I’m inspired by from books, films or real life events to practise poses and colour palettes I wouldn’t usually choose. It’s incredible what you can do when you turn your mind to something.

Markers

Alcohol markers are becoming one of my favourite mediums to work with. They blend, and they have a super vibrant pop. This work is me practicing on toned paper with markers which, if done right can have an incredible contrast with a vibrant pop of colour.
