Here are a few more drawings from the start of one of the best series, and one of the best authors of all time. Once again, I implore you to read the books, as they are on a completely different level to the films. Also, you may notice some of the characters look different to what is seen in the films, and that’s because I have used the descriptions from the books.
There are three drawings from the book which I have been working on recently, all from the Lightning Thief, where Percy is framed for stealing Zeus’ bolt.
First off is the calm before the storm. Before Percy’s life is turned upside down, his Mum takes him to Montauk where she met Percy’s father, and they toast marshmallows and hotdogs on a camp fire on the beach. The second is from capture the flag at Camp Halfblood when Percy gets claimed by Poseidon, god of the sea. The final one is on Percy’s quest to find the lightening bolt, and they must enter the Underworld, which is the land of the dead. To do this they have to get past Hades’ 3-headed guard dog, Cerberus. They plan to distract him with a game of fetch, but Annabeth ends up caring for him.
I hope you enjoy these drawings, and that they entice you you to go on and read (or re-read) these amazing books…
Percy and his mum go on holiday to Montauk and roast Marshmallows and hot dogs in the calm before the storm
Percy is claimed by his father, Poseidon, god of the sea
To complete their quest, Percy must enter the Underworld, but to do this they must pass by Cerberus, Hades’ 3-headed guard dog, without being eaten
Back to book three in the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan, Percy Jackson and the Titan’s Curse. This drawing here has taken be 2 months, and nearly 100 hours with planning, drafting, drawing, fine-lining and colouring, and I am SOOOOO proud of it. It is unlike anything I have done before as it is A3 to get the gods at the appropriate sizes. Unfortunately, even with A3, I couldn’t fit Ares and Aphrodite in. I’ve done it as similar as possible to the descriptions given in the book. I hope you all love this as much as I do.
This is set after the fight on Mount Tam, and after Zoe Nightshade’s (Artemis’ Lieutenant) death. It is set at the council of the gods on the winter solstice….
So this is based on one of the short stories in Rick Riordan’s Demigod Files called Percy Jackson and the Bronze Dragon and is set between The Battle of the Labyrinth (book 4) and the Last Olympian (book 5).
It is set at Camp Half-Blood during a game of Capture the Flag where Poseidon and Hephaestus are against Athena and Aphrodite. Annabeth and Selina capture Percy, which puts Beckendorf in danger. The general gist is that they find some gigantic, deadly ants dragging a Bronze Dragon head, and Annabeth has to activate it to save Beckendorf. In the end, they go back, expecting Capture the Flag to be long over, but it is still going….
Percy, Annabeth, Selina and Beckendorf go back after their adventure in the woods, involving a Bronze Dragon and some very big, very dangerous ants, expecting Capture the Flag to be over. But it is still going, and Annabeth’s siblings run into them and take Percy and Beckendorf prisoners as they are on the opposite team.
So this is the final book the SPECTACULAR Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan, Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian. Rick Riordan is a GENIUS!!!!
So Kronos is reborn and his army are marching on New York which is where modern day Mount Olympus is located. The gods are busy trying to stop Typhon from getting to Olympus so the demigod campers and Hunters of Artemis are on their own. It is Percy’s job to lead the demigods to an impossible victory and on his 16th birthday, a choice will be made that is destined to either save Olympus, or raze it to the ground as dictated by the great prophecy:
A half-blood of the eldest gods
Shall reach sixteen against all odds
And see the world in endless sleep
The hero’s soul, cursed blade shall reap
A single choice shall end his days
Olympus to preserve or raze
Beckendorf is captured but his last act is to blow up the Princess Andromeda, the ship Kronos is using as his base of operations
Annabeth takes a knife for percy which would have struck him in his ‘Acheles heel’. She is taken to the Apollo healers and Will Solace tries to heal the wound
In order to get the much needed Ares cabbin to join the fight, Selina pretends to be Clarisse and leads the cabbin to war. She is mortally wounded, and after killing the Drakon, Clarisse holds Selina in her arms until she dies
Kronos is advancing and Camp Halfblood is struggling to hold Manhattan. To give the campers time to retreat, Chiron faces Kronos, his father, in a one to one battle
Kronos makes it to the Throneroom of the Gods. Annabeth is knocked out and Percy faces the impossible choice of defending Annabeth or stopping Kronos
Luke himself defeats Kronos in the end by stabbing himself in his ‘Acheles heel’. On the verge of death, he makes Percy vow to make the gods change, to have no more unclaimed demigods and respect the minor gods, giving them thrones on Olympus and cabins at Camp Halfblood
Athena corners Percy and warns him against harming Annabeth. She also warns Percy that immortal beings do not do well with change
Percy and Annabeth finally kiss. They are ambushed by the other campers and thrown into the lake in celebration
